A piranha or piraña (pronounced /pɨˈrɑːnjə/, /pɨˈrænjə/, /pɨˈrɑːnə/, or /pɨˈrænə/) is a member of a family of omnivorous[1] freshwater fish which live in South American rivers. In Venezuelan rivers they are called caribes. They are known for their sharp teeth and a voracious appetite for meat, although they do not kill prey; they are scavengers.
Piranhas do not kill living things unless they are smaller then the piranha itself. This picture is from the FICTIONAL movie Piranha for anyone who didn't know, its entirely FAKE. |

Piranha's would not attack a human, they would nibble on a dead corpse of a human, but never a live one. My dad used to breed them and had a tank with 20 or thirty of them, I stuck my hand in as a dare and they didn't do shit, in fact they were more afraid then eager to bite. They typically eat small living things like fish, frogs, birds, etc. Anything bigger will only be eaten if it is no longer living. |
