Bizarre → Female circumcision
Female genital cutting, also known as female genital mutilation, female circumcision or female genital mutilation/cutting, refers to all procedures involving partial or total removal of the external female genitalia or other injury to the female genital organs whether for cultural, religious or other non-therapeutic reasons. It is practiced throughout the world, with the practice concentrated most heavily in Africa.

| This is from a set that's been knocking around the internet for a while...other shots show the woman totally relaxed about the procedure, she's having it done in someone's front room, with a female surgeon and two other women. It was in one of the body mod sites and the story was she hated the size of her labia so she got a nurse to take them off. |

| Actually, pain would be experienced regardless of age, the younger the more cruel imo. The larger problem with this procedure is that it is mostly performed on children(I believe 12 and under) and they have no consent(and possibly even understanding) to it as the parent or guardian has the say on whether the procedure is done on their daughter. @Horrified - Actually the clitoris is not always removed, and whether or not it is, the pleasure part of sexual intercourse still remains, unless it causes emotional/mental trauma to the female (as when it is done at a young age), or they stitch the vagina itself shut to "prevent sex before marriage" (Do not remember the name of that procedure and do not really want to look it up) which again, raises my main opposition towards this procedure. Regardless, this is an unhealthy procedure and potentially very dangerous to most females it is performed on. |

| I had no idea that this existed until I took sociology class. I had heard of the removal of the clitorus but not the lips too. I think any form of this is CRUEL AND UNUSUAL!!!! Specifically because they use no pain medication to perform this and they are doing it at ages where, in most cases, the girl will feel all of the pain. This makes me sick! It is horrible! When we circumcize males they are babies and they have pain relief. I bet in the countries where they are doing this the males don't even get cicumcized. They need to inforce stricter laws on this! |

| Horrible... And its not the same for males, as men dont lose their ability to enjoy sex after the procedure because during male circumcision only the outter skin covering the penis is removed, not the tip of his penis, which is the most sensitive part, similar to that of the clitoris which is the most sensitive, pleasure giving, sexual part on the female body, this lil button of bliss is removed during female circumcision.. Thats awful, wrong, horrible.. Both men and women are beautiful naturally, we are designed perfectly for good health, cleanliness, and pleasure, why change anything... But anyways since ppl are doing it and its up for debate I have to say because male circumcision doesn't render his ability to feel and enjoy sex, female circumcision brings it to a completely different horrible level, def no comparison.... Glad mines still intact *sigh* lol |
