Suicide → Suicidal Hanging
This young man committed suicide by hanging himself.
Hanging is the suspension of a person by a ligature, usually a cord wrapped around the neck, causing death. Throughout history it has been used as a form of capital punishment. The first record of use is in the Persian Empire approximately 2,500 years ago, and some countries still use it today. It is also a common method of committing suicide.

| Hangin', I am sorry to hear that because some people on this site have acted in a bigoted way toward your race you feel that other black people should join you in bigoted commentary toward white victims on here. Although your anger itself is more than understandable and certainly warranted, I truly believe that the tactic you have chosen to employ against such an injustice will do far more harm than good. |

| No racist person here will see the error of his or her ways through the anger they will feel when they read your hate-filled words, but I would not be surprised if Pissed off's latest reply humbles more than one person who might otherwise continue the vicious cycle of racist comments. You may call his willingness to apologize for his part in a bad dynamic being a sucker, but I am confident that numerous people will read his post and be duly impressed by his courage to admit an error in his judgments, especially in a public forum where people like you can come and put him down for it. They may not have the courage to speak up in support of him, but they will hear it, and that is enough. |

| I would also like to bring to attention your comment, a well as other's comments on here, about this man and other suicide victims being "weak". This statement reveals extreme ignorance. People commit suicide for many, many reasons. A large number of suicides are caused by depression, bi-polar disorder, post- traumatic stress disorder due to rape, war, or other traumatic event, side effects from medications that cause suicidal drive in otherwise non-suicidal people, chronic incurable physical pain, finding out one has a terminal or degenerative disease and wishing to die with dignity, and intense bullying and harassment from which people can not seem to find relief -- Yes, including harassment and bullying in the form of racism. |

| People do not commit suicide out of weakness, they commit suicide out of unbearable suffering. Nobody wants to die. But there are times that living becomes too much to bear. The people who judge others so harshly for choosing to end their suffering may someday find themselves facing a choice regarding ending their own lives. Life is a hell of a thing to happen to a person. |

When I said that was racist propaganda, what I was referring to wasn't your historical references. It was your use of historical facts to lead up to a claim that white people are weak and inferior to black people with which I found opposition. |

| Every racist group in history has used historical dates and figures to build a claim of being the First, the True, the Superior Race, and make others out to be the weak, the meek, the intruders, and generally inferior -- and therefore subhuman. By taking away somebody's humanity, they can begin to justify and promote unspeakable acts of violence and hatred toward their victims. They all begin with the tactic of elevating their own race above others and inflaming their followers' sense of entitlement. And that is called propaganda. |

| But moving on from that . . . Absolutely, I'd love to take some time and learn about African/Nubian history. If you give me the names of some good books or other resources on the subject, I will certainly track them down. I love stuff like that. And I wouldn't doubt for a minute that there are countless historical figures from those cultures who contributed indispensable knowledge and wisdom to our world and it would be great to learn their names. |
