The nuclear weapon "Little Boy" was dropped on the city of Hiroshima (Japan) on Monday, August 6, 1945 by the United States at the executive order of U.S. President Harry S. Truman... 140,000 people were killed.

| I hate that there's someone so ignorant of history that they think the Atom bomb wasn't needed. The first one was to show Japan that we had the power to destroy cities. They thought though that we couldn't possibly have more than one. So they didn't surrender. Then a month later we drop the next one and call their bluff. After that, we were out of them, but we got the point across and saved ourselves and Japan from having to fight a brutal war on the mainland. It's a small price to pay to save countless millions of casualties combined on both sides. |
