The nuclear weapon "Little Boy" was dropped on the city of Hiroshima (Japan) on Monday, August 6, 1945 by the United States at the executive order of U.S. President Harry S. Truman... 140,000 people were killed.

| @Renny. I'm not American and its true this event was atrocious, unfortunately if the bomb was not dropped more people would have died, some say triple. The other option was a full-scale land invasion. However, the Japanese people were not taught to flee or hide, they were brainwashed into fighting to the death! If the Japanese people didn't complain for this then and now I don't see why you should cry for 'war crimes'. If you blame for war crimes blame Imperial Japan. You're seven times more to die in the POW camps than inside Nazi camps. |

| I know for a fact- from the son of a Japanese General of the time- the bomb was the right thing. All were ready to commit suicide- children and adults- At 15 my friend was trained to pull the pin of a hand grenade and throw himself under a tank. My father would have died in the invasion of Japan- if the Japanese had a bomb, they would have used it. War is war- Japanese were ruthless murderers. Thank God for the bomb. |
