War → WWII → Victim of atomic bombing of Hiroshima
The atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki were nuclear attacks during World War II against the Empire of Japan by the United States of America under US President Harry S. Truman. On August 6, 1945, the first choice target, Hiroshima, was having clear weather. At 8:15 a.m. (local time), the Enola Gay's door sprang open and dropped "Little Boy." The bomb exploded 1,900 feet above the city and only missed the target, the Aioi Bridge, by approximately 800 feet. Staff Sergeant George Caron, the tail gunner, described what he saw: "The mushroom cloud itself was a spectacular sight, a bubbling mass of purple-gray smoke and you could see it had a red core in it and everything was burning inside... It looked like lava or molasses covering a whole city..." The cloud is estimated to have reached a height of 40,000 feet.

Hiroshima's population has been estimated at 350,000; approximately 70,000 died immediately from the explosion and another 70,000 died from radiation within five years. A survivor described the damage to people: "The appearance of people was... well, they all had skin blackened by burns... They had no hair because their hair was burned, and at a glance you couldn't tell whether you were looking at them from in front or in back... They held their arms bent [forward] like this... and their skin - not only on their hands, but on their faces and bodies too - hung down... If there had been only one or two such people... perhaps I would not have had such a strong impression. But wherever I walked I met these people... Many of them died along the road - I can still picture them in my mind -- like walking ghosts..."

To think that the majority of deaths were civilians who had nothing to do with the war; yes, Japan had done some awful things (Pearl Harbour included), but they didn't set out to specifically target the civilian population. |

To balance it all out, Japan did equally crazy shit. Not towards America in particular, but to other countries in Asia. War shows you a side where EVERYONE is fucked up. So don't go saying, "OMG AMERICANS ARE SO WTFFFFF JAPAN ALL THE WAY!!1!1" |

I strongly agree with "WTF" because not only are these people inhumane but i also think that they were "born messed up" cause if they were born normal than maybe none of would have happend to them....personally I'm really proud to be living in New Zealand because we don't act like that...peace is our thing... |

uhm i agree with *WTF* noone can call themselves a HUMAN. when theyre missing their humanity...... Country pride has caused alot of blood shed in alot of country history,..... but is it really worth it???? dunno, i hope Americans and Japanese can patch up this ongoing conflict but i highly doubt it.......... i strongly suggest Americans go to the Hiroshima bombing site and take a look around see how you feel... are you happy? sad? Japanese visit a museumin America about Pearl Harbor attacks....how do you feel? angry?happy?......if you cant be there, then you should google it...... im telling you.... you'll be shocked at how you'll feel.. just like the Germans that discriminated the Jews...... they were brought into the concerntration camps and shown around about the REAL terror of inhumanity...... |

WTF?! |
uhm if you havent noticed but all you FREAKS that think killing innocent people is an act of self revivement!..... can you stop thinking about COUNTRY PRIDE and think about self- humanity, what both countries did was undescribable, both sides had their REASONS and their CHOICES, they BOTH! took the wrong choice... and as an effect! lots of innocent people, American AND Japenese were killed!... can you's stop your bickering and have some sort of dignity to remeber those people who were affected and killed by these attacks tooken place in both sides! Think about it....... what if it was someone you knew that walked to the shop to get milk and never came back?.... think about those kids that lost their parents... people who dont have consideration for others are just as bad as those that planned the attacks on both Japan and America..... |

America |
Look we lost over 400,000 good men in the war and almost 200,000 of them died in europe. Don't hate, many countrys made sacrafices in that war. And we would rather be yanks than british any day, thats how America came to be my friend. |

Stupid redneck yanks |
For all those saying that if it wasn't for you, us in England would all be speaking German, would kindly shut the fuck up! 1/10 of the American military force went to help fight the Germans. All the rest went to save themselves from the Japanese capturing all of the pacific islands. And besides, america joined the War effort in 1942, 3 years after the war began. By the time they'd even reached Germany, Russia was already in Berlin so just shut the fuck up you glory hoggers! |

In the 1950's (ish), an investigation was held by the press, which they then found in some secret document ( I'm not sure ) that the Japanese empire had being seeking peace before they dropped the 2 atomic bombs. The U.S.A dropped the bomb so they could see its effect, and if it even worked. |
