Terrorism → Hostage → The first victim of terrorist attack on the Nord-Ost Moscow musical theatre (10/23/2002)

Forty armed Chechen Special Purpose Islamic Regiment militants took 850 hostages at the Moscow Nord-Ost theater on October 23, 2002 and demanded the withdrawal of Russian forces from Chechnya and an end to the Second Chechen War. This unfortunate girl was the first victim killed by Chechen terrorists at the theatre. Olga Romanova (26 years old) tried to convince the terrorists to release the children. The Chechen terrorists shot her to death in the chest. Autopsy showed that most of her bones were broken and her body was covered with bruises, leaves no doubt that she was tortured by Chechen terrorists before her death. The terrorists released her body only on the next day after her murder. You can see like Dr. Leonid Roshal (who acted as a mediator between hostage takers and Russian authorities) is removing her body from the theatre.
