Terrorism → Hostage → Beslan school siege (09/01/2004)
The Beslan school siege began when a group of armed Chechen separatists took more than 1,200 schoolchildren and adults hostage on September 1, 2004, at School Number One in the town of Beslan, North Ossetia-Alania, (an autonomous republic in the North Caucasus region of the Russian Federation).
334 civilians were killed, including 186 children, and hundreds were wounded. Chechen terrorist Shamil Basayev took responsibility for the hostage taking.

| I understand that the Russians have almost certainly done their own fair share of killing and raping children (they've probably have done it to numerous Chechens)...but I still can't shake the feeling that Islam is, in fact, an evil religion based on war. I mean, you simply don't see Christian terrorists, or at least not those who terrorize in the name of Christianity. |

Humans do terrible things to eachother and it is incredible as a race, the human race what we do. In this second or 5 it takes to read this we suffer, we always will. | to Canadian. what do you mean 'only one man was to blame'. you obviously did not see the siege on the tv, the whole world saw it was more than one man, it was a gang of men and women about 15 to 30 strong. Islamic fanatics and savage Chechens to boot. It IS possible to condemn a whole group of people because of the activities of them, like the evil Pallestinians and the sick Hezbollah Lebonese people. They are nearly as bad and as evil as the Chechens, along with the Talibs they should be expunged from the world, along with all Islamic adherents. Without Islam the world will be a better place. | Perhaps it's time for us to realize that blaming a whole race will help no one. It's sad that this has happened and the man responsible was dealt with. The ONE man who performed the crime was dealt with. No one else is to blame. Let us Forgive but never forget the one's we lost. Let's just keep religion out of it, as we need to learn to be more open to others and their views in the world. Only then can we truly live as one with the world. |
